Introduction to the Market Analysis
The Life Policy Dynamics Market Analysis was pioneered in 2006, with the goal of helping funders and investors better understand market dynamics of a maturity alternative asset class, life settlement. The current format has evolved into an industry wide tool used to increase awareness and transparency as the industry strives toward a more efficient marketplace. Data is aggregated on a confidential and voluntary basis from several life settlement industry participants and comprise only actual settlement transactions. The past few years have not only seen a growth in the data collection sample, but also a refinement in the research content. Life Policy Dynamics and The Peninsula Group family of companies are proud to be involved with an industry-wide collaboration with such important shared benefits. This life settlement analysis has been used in reports and articles across the industry.
The 2009 version was created with the cooperation of two dozen industry contributors. These contributing firms consisted of brokers, providers and longevity investment funds who willingly submitted data on a completely confidential basis. All contributors were also given the freedom to share as much as they were capably willing to share within the set data collection guidelines.
The growth of the Market Analysis is a reflection of the growing of the industry as an alternative asset class industry and greater cooperation among providers. The growth in 2007 and 2008 was a result of a more substantial pool of data contributors. The decrease of policies in 2009 can be attributed to the drop in total policies settled due to the depressed state of the market during that year. However, it is significant to note that the decrease in total face value is considerably less drastic
